First and foremost, be aware.  There are a lot of scammers out there for buyers and sellers.  If it is too good to be true it probably is.  Have a conversation, face time, ask specific questions, schedule an onsite visit.  If a seller won't schedule a time to do these things with you think twice about purchasing from them.  

I like to provide my buyers a "purchase agreement" when they commit to buying one of my calves because I expect one as a buyer.  It's an educational document that explains what to expect and when to expect it.  It also acts as a proof of purchase and will hold up in court if necessary.  It is for your protection.

I request a down payment to reserve a calf and the remainder of the purchase price is due when the calf is picked up.  I accept Zelle, cash, or money order.
